There is no ONE time that is perfect for practicing Qigong in the modern day. Our lives are busy, and often hectic. The last thing we need is to stress ourselves out trying to find the precise time that is perfect to practice Qigong.
Qigong is not just about the exercises, deep breathing, and movements. It is also about the mindset that we enter into and exit Qigong with. It is ideal to enter into Qigong practice with some mental space, prepared to practice, and leave feeling energized, relaxed, and clear minded.
The real answer to “when is the best time to practice Qigong?” is … the time that works best for you.
It’s the time that you feel as if you have mental space to practice, and you feel ready to relax a busy mind, and move your body and qi 🙂
If mornings are a calm time, perhaps that’s right for you. If evening is peaceful and quiet, that may be the right time.
Having said that, there are some better times to practice. If we are trying to build the yang energy – which is energetic, active, warm, and fast moving – we should practice as the sun is rising.
If we are trying to build the yin energy – which is still, calm, peaceful, cool, and tranquil – we can practice in the evening, around 45 minutes before going to sleep.
Qigong in the morning = more yang energy
Qigong in the evening = more yin energy
What about the middle of the day? Yes, it is a good time to practice, as long as you have the mental space 🙂
In short, anytime is a good time to practice, as long as it’s daily, and regular 🙂
