The holidays are a wonderful time, filled with joy, celebration, and connecting with loved ones. It can be a very relaxing, soul-filling time of the year.

It can also be a very stressful time. Some studies show an increased level of depression, stress, and anxiety during the Christmas season due to increased demands, and the lack of light (in the Northern hemisphere) leading to Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).

Staying healthy during the holidays IS possible. We can stay balanced, calm and clear minded, preserve our energy, and keep healthy boundaries if we consciously decide to do so.

Of course, we already know that we should try to eat well, drink moderately, get enough sleep, and manage stress levels. But managing our stress and state of “frenzy” can be one of the most helpful things we can do.

In this video, I offer a simple quick tip to help stay balanced and healthy during the holidays. Basically, practice short Qigong routines! Qigong helps bring your awareness back into your body, it slows down the busy thoughts, it helps relax and move the body, and it gives us a chance to just breathe!

If you haven’t begun your Qigong journey yet, now could be the time! You don’t need to wait until the New Year, you can begin today. Literally every single time I practice Qigong on my own, I always think “I am so glad I practiced today.”

In the video I mentioned that we have several short routines in the Communi Qi in this section as well in the 30 Days of Qigong program

Until next time, keep practicing, enjoy the season, however you like to celebrate, and hopefully we’ll see you in the Communi Qi!
